KAR is a private local Iraqi company, established in 1999 and headquartered in Erbil, with its branches set up inside and outside Iraq, including Turkey and Jordan besides representatives in United Arab Emirates and the United States of America, The company lunched working along with its group of companies in the field of engineering and construction projects, it has carried out more than 2,400 projects, particularly in 2003, in all governorates of Iraq, employing more than 34,000 people, also participating in the reconstruction of infrastructure campaign.
In the course of building apartments and complexes in Baghdad, Erbil and Duhok provinces with a quantity of 8,500 housing units, the company extended its investment to include the strategic projects such as oil, gas and power generating. It was the first private Iraqi company to enter in this field. The company supplied equipment and material, carried out construction and operation of Khormala Oil Field project, between Erbil and Kirkuk, it supplied material and equipment for Hamrin field in Salahaddin province and AJ-Subba and Luhais fields in Basra as well.
The company has also implemented drying gas stations of southern (Jamboori) and (Bai Hassan) in Kirkuk, in addition to design and supply of materials for more than 19 crude oil tanks of different volumes for Dora (Baghdad) and Shuaiba (Basra) refineries, and Faw & Zubair crude oil storage fields.
It is worth mentioning that the company contributed in applying the clean development program via building (Amine unit) for collecting and treating the gas, associated with the extracted crude oil in Khormala field to be used as fuel for Khormala power plant operation and equipping and developing the gas processing unit in Komor gas field*. The first accomplished project by KAR company in the field of refining was the construction and operating of Erbil refinery
The project comprises of three phases and the total capacity is 175,000 BPSD. In the same time, KAR company has an international reputation in oil and gas pipeline construction, it executed more than 445KM of oil pipelines and 226KM of gas pipe¬ lines in different sizes *. In the field of electricity, the company performed through contracting with (KRG) eight secondary power stations 132 KV in Erbil & Duhok the same in Duhok and 4G0KV Erbil central station, also expanding Akra secondary power station in Duhok governorate, in addition to constructing Khormala power plant with a capacity of 1335MW in Erbil, on in three phases, the first of which is accomplished , and the work on the third phase was completed in the middle of the year 2017, this project will benefit Iraq as a whole.
The company is building a power plant with a capacity of 200MW in Erbil- Harir, it has signed a contract in 2015 to develop the power plant in Rumaitha and Shaat Al-Basra and build a AJ-Khayrat Power Plant with an additional capacity of 3,000 MW*. Among other enormous projects, the company built cement factories in Najaf and Qarachoogh with a capacity of 6,000 tons of cement per day for each one. KAR company which consists of ten companies, has accomplished 2400 projects, the value of more than billions of dollars, and has greatly revived the economy in Iraq, especially in Kurdistan Region employing thousands of workers and providing expertise and qualified staff. KAR has projects all over Iraq particularly in Kurdistan Region.
